back

early on in business, i had a hunch

During my maternity leave and extended time off social media, the hypothesis has re-emerged. Asking to be picked up once again and ruthlessly retested.

Not only does it still hold up.

It seems to be the only viable option.

There is a version of the marketplace we have all been duped by, in some way.

It clouds you into thinking that the stardust of your work isn’t also in the soil.

That a pure essence is not its own self-fulfilling prophecy.

Somewhere along the way, you begin to think everything else is 'the thing.'

You add, not from space, but from suffocation.

You rush, not from riding the wave, but from worrying there won’t be another one.

You emulate, not from naturalness, but from the fear of being forgotten.

If I could share one thing with you about your work, it would be the simple, vast truth of what’s occurring.

That ‘what’s going on’ in business is far simpler and subtler than we’ve been led to believe

I ran a ‘crazy’ experiment to see if it was true.

Evidence showed it was.

So that you could finally be free.

And run naked into the wild creativy symhpony.

There is a version of commerce that yells and sells.

And a version of you who buys and believes.

It sells you a way based on the context of *its* reality.

What happens when you step outside that context and peer into it?

What happens when you stop looking at it altogether and instead look around it?

What happens when you move so far away from it that you start to forget it exists?

You find the field.

Dreams from the past. Memories from the future.

We’re rolling in the grass. Laughing at the cosmic joke.

Commerce that, to the previous context, ‘doesn’t make sense.’

Liberated from the insanity of a burning world, makes perfect sense.

This season, I invite you to Unlearn Business.

Through a trifecta of realms consistently targeted by the commerce monster.

COMMUNITY, CREATIVITY, and TIME.

All things seemingly nicer to interact with ‘outside’ of business.

Yet, irrefutable pillars of a new era.

Warning ⚠️  do not enter unless you’re willing to consistently throw what you think business is into the fire, and be shocked by what remains.

the flow

In business, there are two ways to do community backward:

1. centering turning people into customers

2. centering trying to build community

Both stand in the way of a clean and fulfilling exchange.

The commerce monster is the most effective weapon against our innate creativity.

The cosmic joke is that said creativity is our surest chance to build a business we don’t hate and get paid to sing our soul's song.

For every linear-time-based rule you’ve learned in business, there is an equal and opposite reaction that obliterates that rule.
